Ford Series trucks again top-selling vehicles for 2013

The Ford Series trucks, paced by the F-150, have been the best-selling vehicles in the United States for more than three decades. And they’ve been the country’s best-selling trucks for more than four decades. In 2013, the trucks’ top-ranking remained in the end-of-the-year sales totals. But the pick-up trucks’  numbers were even more impressive. The entire F-Series sold 763,402 units in 2013, an 18 percent increase from 2012. Toyota Prius honored as best value in auto industry

The Toyota Prius has been named the best value in the automotive industry for 2013. The top-selling hybrid costs owners only 47 cents per mile to drive, according to Consumer Reports. The Prius, which debuted in the United States in 2000, moved ahead of the Honda Fit in 2012 for the first year of its now two-year reign at the top of the best value list. The Fit held the No. 1 position for the previous four years. In its best value reports, Consumer Reports also selected leaders in many segments of the auto industry. Toyota cans FJ Cruiser, Yaris, Venza next?

Toyota manufactures the most successful gas and most successful hybrid car in history. The Japanese carmaker makes the Corolla and the Prius, of course. And it makes the perennially popular Camry, Avalon and Highlander. But Toyota also makes the some vehicles that don’t sell particularly well. And it’s about to discontinue a model and may consider abandoning a few other models. According a report on WardAuto.com, Toyota, as previously announced, will discontinue its FJ Cruiser in mid-2014. Toyota gets top-2 spots in Consumer Reports’ reliability

Toyota has again ranked at the top of the 2014 reliability rankings of Consumer Reports, the independent testing organization. The Lexus ES 300h Hybrid is the top-ranked vehicle, followed by the Toyota Prius. Consumer Reports uses surveys returned by their subscribers and compiles reliability histories on vehicles and predicts how new cars currently on sale will hold up. Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand. The Toyota Camry and Camry hybrid as well as the Avalon and Avalon hybrid and Venza will combine for 803,000 vehicles being recalled in the United States for faulty airbags or power steering problems. The 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be available in two models and both will cost substantially less than last year’s editions of the increasingly popular family of green cars. Toyota has reduced the MSRP on the 2014 Prius Plug-in Hybrid by $2,010, lowering the starting MSRP $29,990. Pricing for the 2014 Prius Plug-in Advanced model has also been adjusted to make the model more accessible to consumers with a $4,620 reduction in MSRP to $34,905. Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan recall 2.3 million cars, vans

Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai combined are recalling 2.3 million cars dating to 2004 and for reasons varying from defective shift levers to faulty sensors to brake light issues. The Toyota recall involves 694,000 Sienna minivans, from the model years of 2004-2005 and 2007-2009, because of the risk of rolling away while parked. The Detroit News reported the minivans have defective shift lever assemblies that could be moved out of park without the foot on the brake pedal. As a result, the minivans could rollaway. Twenty-one minor accidents and two minor injuries have been reported. The Toyota recall covers 615,000 vehicles in the United States, 56,000 in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico.
