2015 Chevrolet Corvette under scrutiny, recall next?

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette, the iconic vehicle often dubbed through the years as “America’s Sports Car,” is having difficulty. Although it hasn’t been recalled, General Motors has issued two stop-sale orders because of the difficulties with the driver’s airbag and in other instances, the parking brake cables. “General Motors has told Chevrolet dealers to stop delivery of approximately 2,000 2015 Corvettes to fix the driver’s airbag. General Motors raises 2014 Corvette Stingray price

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the car often known as America’s sportswear, just got more expensive. General Motors has announced the base price of the sports car just went up by $2,000, from $51,000 to $53,000. The manufacturer has also increased the price for the Stingray convertible by $2,000. It now costs $58,000. In addition, the price of the Z51 performance option package went up by $1,200. It now costs $4,000. The Z51 package adds larger wheels, performance tires and special aerodynamic features, among other things. “The consumer demand for Stingray has far exceeded our expectations, particularly for the Z51 package,” GM spokesman Monte Doran said. Rare 50-year-old Corvette set for pending Mecum Auction

A 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, one of only four ever made and given to automotive pioneer who brought the iconic sports car to the public’s attention, will soon be auctioned in Chicago. The Corvette, which features factory-customized side exhaust, is a longtime member of the Corvette Hall of Fame. The rare car, given to Harley J. Earl, will be among about 1,000 cars auctioned Oct. 10-12 by Mecum Auctions. Earl joined General Motors in 1928 and became the head of the GM design team before retiring in 1958. The 1963 Corvette will be auctioned in the final day of the three-day show. The auction will open at 8 a.m. daily with some of the auction broadcast live on Discovery’s Velocity

John Lennon’s rare Ferrari and his first ticket to ride set for Bonhams auction

Nearly five decades since John Lennon received his first driver’s license and purchased his first car, a 1965 Ferrari 330GT, the former Beatle’s classic sports car will be featured at Bonhams auction July 12 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. Lennon, who owned the classic Ferrari for about three years, paid slightly more than $10,000 for the new right-hand driver Ferrari and drove it for about 20,000 miles. Now restored to its original status, the Ferrari is expected to sell for between $275,000-$340,00 as one of only 500 330GT of its type built. Started 20 years ago by Ferrari North America, the Ferrari Challenge affords its customers the opportunity to appreciate their cars in competition while racing against other Ferrari owners on tracks throughout North America. 2013 Audi RS 5: Dynamic coupe a classically elegant race car
