The Ferrari Challenge, a two-day program featuring Ferrari Challenge and the F1 Corse Clienti, will return May 21-22 to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Cars in the series include the new purpose-built Ferrari 458 Challenge. These modern race cars will share the paddock with the speed, elegance and style of the greatest cars from Ferrari’s glorious F1 past like Niki Lauda’s 312T and Michael Schumacher’s F2001.
“The Ferrari Challenge will provide motorsports fans with a thrilling season opener at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Fans will surely enjoy the sights and sounds of these modern race cars and shrieking F1 cars as they challenge the Corkscrew.”
Since the days of Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari, the automaker has maintained close ties with owners and the privateers who carry the Ferrari racing heritage worldwide.
The Ferrari Challenge series is designed to allow Ferrari owners the opportunity to compete on some of the world’s greatest race tracks while providing Ferrari enthusiasts the chance to enjoy watching Ferraris in their natural environment – the race track.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s 2011 racing schedule includes: Ferrari Challenge (May 21-22), Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series (July 9-10), Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship (July 22-24), Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (August 19-21) and American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón (September 16-18).
General admission tickets, parking and general camping will go on sale January 19, 2011 and will be available by calling 800-327-7322 or online at www.mazdaraceway.com.
