Introduced in 1960 as a lower-priced, shorter wheelbase alternative full size car in 1960, the Dodge Dart morphed into a mid-size car in 1962 and then a compact in 1963. Production continued through 1976.
Nearly four decades later, the Dart name will return in 2012 as a 2013 Dodge Dart compact sedan based on a stretched and widened version of the platform used in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It debuted at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The 2013 Dodge Dart replaces the Caliber as Dodge's entry-level vehicle. Engine options, all four-cylinder, will be a turbocharged 1.4-liter turbocharged unit also available in the Fiat 500, and non-turbo 2.0- and 2.4-liter engines. Six-speed manual, auto or dual-clutch transmission will be available and a nine-speed will be available at a later date.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrdxDk_jWkQ
