The New York International Auto Show fills the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center with more than 700 vehicles on about a million square feet of floor, and four test tracks let visitors drive or ride in some of them. The 2027 show opens to the public on Friday, March 26 and runs 10 days, through Sunday, April 4.

Last spring 33 automakers exhibited, from Kia and Subaru to Koenigsegg, Rolls-Royce and Zenvo. The debuts ranged from the electric three-row 2027 Subaru Getaway to the Hyundai Boulder Concept, a body-on-frame SUV the company brought out as a surprise global premiere. I covered the major reveals in the 2026 New York show guide.

America’s first auto show opened at Madison Square Garden on November 3, 1900. About 48,000 visitors paid 50 cents each to see roughly 160 vehicles from 34 automakers, and a board track around the exhibits proved the horseless carriages could move.

The full 2026 roster was Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Corvette, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Genesis, Honda (through its Fastport display), Hyundai, Infiniti, Jeep, Karma, Kia, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Lincoln, Lotus, Lucid, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, Ram, Rolls-Royce, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and Zenvo. The 2027 list is TBA.

Among the 2026 reveals were the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas, the North American debut of the 2027 Kia EV3, the Genesis G90 Wingback Concept and GV60 Magma, the Bentley Supersports and Zenvo’s Aurora Agil. Chrysler showed the 2027 Pacifica and Dodge a Durango America250 edition. The hypercars are in my roundup of the 2026 hypercars.

Beyond the stands, the 2026 show put Tuner Car Culture on Level 3, a six-car McLaren exhibit, concept cars, a 28-foot climbing mountain and an adoption event built around dogs. Specialty exhibits covered Overlander Weekend, R2XPO’s Rides + Rigs, Hometown Heroes and a Marines exhibit, and a marketplace of vendors filled the River Pavilion on Level 4.

Test Drives and Rides

The 2026 show ran four tracks: Camp Jeep, the Hyundai Test Track, the Toyota Thrill Ride and an EV Test Track. Riders on the EV track and the hybrid and EV ride-and-drive had to be at least 8 years old and 57 inches tall, anyone under 18 needed a parent or guardian, and child safety seats could not be used. Lines may shut before the posted closing time.

Younger children had their own Kids EV Test Track, part of a Kids EV Driving Academy in the Kids Zone. In the show’s 2026 visitor survey, 41% of attendees took an on-site test drive, and 34% said it made them more likely to consider that brand.

World Car Awards on March 24
