Known issues

Low
Only the base rear-drive Light uses this pack. Kia's spec sheet gives it 76.1 kWh at 632 volts and a 230-mile range, with a 235 kW charging peak and 20 minutes on a 350 kW charger. Every other trim has the 99.8 kWh pack at 552 volts, which peaks at 210 kW and takes 24 minutes.
High
NHTSA 26V-431 (July 2026) covers eight vehicles, one of them a 2024 EV9 and the rest 2022-2024 EV6s, whose high-voltage battery cells may have misaligned electrodes that can cause a fire while parked or driving. Owners are told to park outside and charge to no more than 80% until dealers replace the high-voltage battery assembly, free of charge.
Low
NHTSA 24V-757 (October 2024) covers certain 2024-2025 EV9 vehicles whose instrument panel screen may fail because of a software error. The software is updated by a dealer or over the air, free of charge. This is not a battery recall.
Low
Kia's 2026 spec sheet lists the same 76.1 kWh, 632-volt pack and the same 235 kW peak for the Light.

How this pack ages (industry context)

Industry fleet aggregates: 2.3% average annual capacity loss across 22,700 EVs / 21 models (Geotab, 2026), and 95% range retention at 5 years on average across 30,000+ vehicles (Recurrent, 2026).

OEM warranty floor on this pack: 10 yr / 100k mi to 70% capacity.

Public per-pack degradation curves are not available for most models. Individual results vary materially with climate, charging behavior, and DC fast-charge frequency.
