Bugatti introduces new Veyron, will debut at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 1Bugatti has released the new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, the latest model to join the Veyron lineup. The model includes a 1,200 horsepower engine and a limited speed 257 mph (in order to protect the tires).New additions include a seven-speed, twin clutch gearbox, four turbochargers and improved intercoolers that will boost engine’s power and improve safety at high speed.

The new Veyron body was is also lighter and constructed with an all-carbon, monocoque frame.

The new model is also a limited-edition — only 30 units will be manufactured. Likewise, the first five units will be known as the World Record Edition because the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new record for production cars in a recent test, with a top average speed of 267.7 mph.

“We took it that we would reach an average speed of 264 mph, but the conditions today were perfect and allowed even more,” said Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, Bugatti’s chief engineer.

The new Veyron will make its debut at the Concours d’Elegance on August 15 in Pebble Beach. The event will also feature Alfa Romeo, Pierce-Arrow and Jaguar as well as  celebrate the designs of Ghia.

And the event will also welcome Hot Rods, particularly lakesters and Bonneville racers, as well as Indy Cars. The second year for motorcycles at the famed show will focus on classic American bikes built prior to 1960.

Bugatti is also the marquee for Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, August 13-15. It’s also part of Monterey Auto Week, and will feature vintage Bugattis entered from around the world and competing in numerous divisions.
