Complaints by Engine Code
Every complaint of any kind (brakes, airbags, electrical and the rest) whose VIN names the engine, across all model years. The score above counts only engine, transmission and drivetrain complaints, so its figures for the same engine are smaller. Fire, injury and death figures count complaints that report one.

Battery Electric (BEV)
Battery & propulsion complaint analysis for the 2024-2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV
Too few battery-related complaints to set against other electric vehicles yet.
What kind of battery complaint?
What the 6 battery-related complaints describe. One complaint can name more than one of these, so the shares add up to more than 100%. They describe what owners complained about, not how often the vehicle fails.
Loss of power, drive unit, inverter, traction motor, DC-DC converter.
Charge port, cable, mobile connector, or session failures.
Low-voltage battery deaths, common on EVs and hybrids that use a 12V for accessories.
Propulsion battery defects, capacity loss, BMS faults, replacement claims.
Regen brake feel, one-pedal driving, B-mode complaints.

Electric Propulsion
- [2024] The front trunk latch mechanism repeatedly fails. When this occurs, the vehicle believes the trunk is open and will not let you drive in normal mode. It forces you to proceed in limp mode which is dangerous. The 12v battery has to be reset to have the sensor redetect the close latch. Reports from multiple forum sources show this to be a widespread problem and currently dealer are replacing with th
- [2024] While in traffic over 45 miles per hour, the vehicle placed itself into a hazard mode due to the electric vehicle propulsion system. This happened so fast and the deceleration rate was so quick that it risked a rear end collision. This is the second time this has happened and both were following a heavy rain storm. I drove through a modest puddle that did not even submerge half of the tire wall
- [2025] July 2025 RO (mileage ~5,500): Propulsion reduced power; AC loss/no cooling; charging failure; loose weather stripping; shark fin antenna loose; brake pedal clicking on stops; OnStar connectivity loss. July 13-22 2025 (mileage ~6,000): Electrical impairments; reduced acceleration/speed; vehicle not charging; weather stripping missing/loose; shark fin coming loose; brake clicking during stopping;
Charging System
- [2024] When charging my Silverado EV at Level 3 DC Fast chargers it is not charging at the same Voltage / Power as it has been in the past at the same stations (roughly half the power). I have taken it to the service center for diagnostics but they were unable to isolate the component that caused this problem, only reproduce the problem. Further details below. What component or system failed or malfunc
12V Auxiliary Battery
- [2025] The vehicle experienced repeated high-voltage system warnings and battery conditioning system failures. On multiple occasions the “Service High Voltage System” message appeared along with codes P0530 and P1C26 related to the lithium-ion battery conditioning system that controls heating and cooling of the high-voltage battery pack. A critical U3578 code triggered an urgent OnStar alert requiring im
Regenerative Braking
- [2025] Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released
Source: classified from NHTSA complaint and recall data. "Battery-related" includes high-voltage propulsion battery, charging system, hybrid drivetrain, electric propulsion, regenerative braking, 12V auxiliary battery, and thermal-event complaints. Other complaints (suspension, steering, brakes, infotainment) appear in the engine and vehicle-level sections. The rate divides those complaints by the electrified versions built, from the production counts makers report to NHTSA, and it is not adjusted for age. Death and injury figures count complaints that report one, not the number an owner typed in.

Pack overview
Known issues
How this pack ages (industry context)
Industry fleet aggregates: 2.3% average annual capacity loss across 22,700 EVs / 21 models (Geotab, 2026), and 95% range retention at 5 years on average across 30,000+ vehicles (Recurrent, 2026).
OEM warranty floor on this pack: 8 yr / 100k mi to 75% capacity.
Public per-pack degradation curves are not available for most models. Individual results vary materially with climate, charging behavior, and DC fast-charge frequency.
