Shaun White, now the three the two-time snowboard half pipe gold medalist, was featured on 60 Minutes  just prior to the start of the Winter Olympics eight years ago.

The segment with interviewer Bob Simon covered several areas, including the athlete’s ownership of two Lamborghinis — one crashed, one intact. The exchange between interviewer and guest is brisk and humorous.

Here’s the text of the Lamborghini segment, followed by the video, which includes White taking the interviewer for a ride in his second Lamborghini. The segment is also a good memoy White early in his career juxtaposed with White duing the current Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Simon: On his list was a house and a sports car. He bought a Lamborghini, which he later crashed.

“I heard that you wrapped it around a tree,” Simon asked White.

“There might have been a tree that went down in the neighborhood,” White acknowledged, laughing.

Simon: He bought a second one and took Simon along for a spin.

“My mom’s terrified of this car,” White told Simon during the ride. “Lamborghini is not a car that mothers like.”
