Battery & propulsion recalls (4)
Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Air vehicles. Software versions 2.0.64 and older may not respond properly to an inverter power module failure, which can result in a loss of drive power without warning.
Consequence: A loss of drive power without warning increases the risk of a crash.
Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Air vehicles. When a hardware communication fault is detected, the High Voltage Interlock (HVIL) software could disconnect the high voltage contactors while the vehicle is in motion, causing a loss of drive power.
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Air Pure rear wheel drive vehicles. The rear subframe wiring harness may be too short, straining the electrical connection and causing power loss to the rear drive unit (RDU).
Consequence: A loss of power to the rear drive unit can result in a complete loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Air vehicles equipped with Pure Rear-Wheel Drive. Improperly secured bolts may allow the half-shaft to disconnect from the drive unit.
Consequence: A disconnected half shaft can result in a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

- [2022] The contact owns a 2022 Lucid Air. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed in inclement weather, there was a lightning strike in close proximity, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. The vehicle inadvertently rebooted and the contact was able to park the vehicle next to a residential garage; however, after turning off the vehicle, the vehicle was unable to be restarted.
- [2022] My vehicle was in the garage and the drive train failed. No other details were provided to me by the manufacturer. There have been at least four other reports, in which vehicles were on the road when this occurred and the vehicles shutdown with little to no time to find a safe spot to pull over. This seems to be an issue with either the main EV battery or the 12V accessory battery.

Source: classified from NHTSA complaint and recall data. "Battery-related" includes high-voltage propulsion battery, charging system, hybrid drivetrain, electric propulsion, regenerative braking, 12V auxiliary battery, and thermal-event complaints. Other complaints (suspension, steering, brakes, infotainment) appear in the engine and vehicle-level sections. Rates are absolute counts, not normalized per-VIN — high-volume models naturally produce more raw complaints than low-volume ones. Self-reported death and injury counts are capped per complaint to limit form abuse.
