Charge port, cable, mobile connector, or session failures.

Regenerative Braking 1 (33%)

Regen brake feel, one-pedal driving, B-mode complaints.

12V Auxiliary Battery 1 (33%)

Sample complaint excerpts
Charging System
  • [2026] The vehicle cannot initiate a level 2 charging session due to a ground fault error. Multiple charging stations were attempted with different charging connectors and adapters. Only DC fast charging works on the vehicle now. This vehicle has been leased for less than 60 days.
  • [2026] My BRAND NEW car is suffering an ICCU issue. I first noticed the screens going completely black while driving. I then noticed that I can’t charge at all on Lvl 1 and Lvl2 chargers (AC), but I went to the dealership and the helped me charge on lvl 3 DC fast charging. This is an incredibly dangerous problem, if this results in my 12V battery dying, I could be stranded while driving.
Regenerative Braking
  • [2026] I am reporting a suspected safety defect involving inconsistent deceleration behavior in my 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5. I regularly use Hyundai’s i-PEDAL one-pedal-driving mode. In this mode, releasing the accelerator produces strong regenerative deceleration and can bring the vehicle to a stop. However, the vehicle does not retain this selected driving behavior after it is turned off and restarted. It

Source: classified from NHTSA complaint and recall data. "Battery-related" includes high-voltage propulsion battery, charging system, hybrid drivetrain, electric propulsion, regenerative braking, 12V auxiliary battery, and thermal-event complaints. Other complaints (suspension, steering, brakes, infotainment) appear in the engine and vehicle-level sections. Rates are absolute counts, not normalized per-VIN — high-volume models naturally produce more raw complaints than low-volume ones. Self-reported death and injury counts are capped per complaint to limit form abuse.
