Known issues

Low
NHTSA 23V-434 (June 2023) covers 26 Model 3 and Model Y cars from model year 2023, built in late May 2023, whose pyrotechnic battery disconnect may be defective. Tesla Service replaces the disconnect free of charge.
Low
Tesla publishes no capacity for this pack. It declared 360 volts and 235 Ah to EPA for the 2021-2023 Long Range and Performance cars. In its certification tests the 2022-2023 Model 3 Long Range discharged 82.1 kWh from full to empty, the Model 3 Performance 80.8 kWh and the 2022-2023 Model Y Long Range 80.7 kWh; the 2021 Long Range cars discharged 77.7 to 78.6 kWh.
Low
Tesla's Model 3 page in 2022 listed a 250 kW Supercharging maximum for the two dual-motor trims and 170 kW for the rear-wheel-drive car. Tesla publishes no 10 to 80 percent time.
Low
Tesla's warranty covers the Long Range and Performance battery for 8 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, with at least 70% retention of battery capacity. Standard Range cars are covered for 100,000 miles.
Low
The displayed range can fall without a matching loss of battery capacity. Tesla's warranty calls range estimates "an imperfect measure of Battery capacity because they are affected by additional factors separate from Battery capacity."

How this pack ages (industry context)

Industry fleet aggregates: 2.3% average annual capacity loss across 22,700 EVs / 21 models (Geotab, 2026), and 95% range retention at 5 years on average across 30,000+ vehicles (Recurrent, 2026).

OEM warranty floor on this pack: 8 yr / 120k mi to 70% capacity.

Public per-pack degradation curves are not available for most models. Individual results vary materially with climate, charging behavior, and DC fast-charge frequency.

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The pyrotechnic battery disconnect may be defective.

Consequence: A defective battery disconnect may not isolate the vehicle's high voltage battery after a crash or fault detection, increasing the risk of electrical shock and injury.
