The Jaguar Type 01 starts at $130,500 in the United States, and Jaguar’s own estimate puts its range at up to 400 miles on the optional 21-inch wheels. Orders open in early 2027, and the company expects the first U.S. deliveries in the second half of that year.

The car premiered on October 6 at STORIED in West Chelsea, New York, driven in by António Félix da Costa of the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team. It is the first production model on JEA, the 850-volt platform JLR built for electric Jaguars only.

A 260 kW motor at the front and two 310 kW motors at the rear produce up to 1,015 hp and 1,007 lb-ft, and Jaguar claims 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.

Key Takeaways

  • The Jaguar Type 01 starts at $130,500 in the U.S., which is $7,500 under the $138,000 Range Rover Electric SE from the same parent company. The U.K. price is £130,000.

The $130,500 Is $7,500 Under the Range Rover Electric

At $130,500 the Type 01 lists $7,500 under the sibling Range Rover Electric, which opened its order books in September at $138,000 for the SE. The Jaguar figure is the only U.S. price in JLR’s October 7 release. Both run on JLR batteries of about 118 kWh usable, and the company’s range estimates are 400 miles for the Jaguar and 333 for the Range Rover.

The launch specification is called Design Vision, in Visionary Silver Satin on 23-inch Diamond Turned wheels with anodized metal fender finishers that took 500 hours to develop. A Chromatic Moments collection, limited to 60 cars globally, comes in two paints, French Ultramarine and London Red. Jaguar has priced the base car only.

The 400-Mile Estimate Is on the Optional 21-Inch Wheels

Jaguar’s footnote reads: “Electric range is 400 miles with fully charged battery and 21-inch wheels. All figures are Manufacturer’s range estimates.” The same note sends buyers to a retailer for updated EPA estimates. The 23-inch wheel is standard.

Jaguar also quotes up to 320 miles at a constant 75 mph, a figure it ties to journey data from 920,000 JLR vehicles between October 2023 and October 2024, in which 99.7% of completed trips fell within 303 miles.

The 118 kWh pack uses prismatic NMC cells with side terminals, and the JEA structure lets it extend ahead of the passenger compartment, which Jaguar says fits 32 more cells worth up to 70 miles of range and 148 hp.

Active front vanes contribute up to 27 miles by Jaguar’s count, a rear-motor shutoff on the highway up to 18 miles, and the drag coefficient is 0.23.

A 350 kW Charger Adds 200 Miles in 13 Minutes

On an 850-volt DC charger at 350 kW, Jaguar says the Type 01 adds up to 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes and goes from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes. At a 400-volt charger the pack splits to accept 250 kW.

The onboard AC charger handles up to 19.2 kW, and Jaguar lists NACS compatibility in the U.S. with access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

Halewood Presses the Rear Quarter Panel in Six Stages

Jaguar calls the aluminum rear quarter the Impossible Panel. It is pressed at JLR’s Halewood plant in a six-stage process under 2,500 tons from a machine four stories high, after engineers spent more than 1,500 hours perfecting the pressing of a panel with five planes, where industry practice stops at three. The frameless doors close directly against the body, and the glass seals are hidden by a compressed-radius hem with no cosmetic trim. The structure is 73% aluminum, the car carries more than 360 patent applications, and JLR says it is designed, engineered and built in the U.K.

The Type 01 is 208 inches long and 55 inches tall, and the standard 23-inch wheels stand more than half its height. Jaguar measures 35.4 inches (898 mm) from the front axle center to the front door, 17% of the car’s length, which it says is almost the E-type’s proportion.

Rear-wheel steering of up to six degrees gives a wall-to-wall turning circle of 37.7 feet, and the Pirelli P Zero tires developed for the car are rated by Jaguar for up to 0.94g of lateral grip.

A central spine runs the length of the cabin and divides it into four seats. The driver faces a 24-inch OLED display, a seven-inch touchscreen sits between the front seats and a matching portrait screen serves the rear. The rearview mirror is a camera feed, the ClearSight Rear View Display, set into a 13-speaker Panoramic Soundbar at the base of the windshield that works with 25 more speakers. Cargo volume is more than 15.9 cubic feet, or more than 35 with the rear seats folded.

“Type 01 will never arrive unnoticed,” said Andrew Wheel, JLR’s design development director.

Jaguar reads the name in three parts: “Type” for the brand’s earlier cars, “0” for zero tailpipe emissions and “1” for the first of a new generation. Florence Pugh was announced at the premiere as Jaguar’s inaugural brand ambassador.

A 2027 Order for a Second-Half Delivery

At $130,500 the Type 01 lists $7,500 under the Range Rover Electric SE from the same company, with 473 more horsepower and a range estimate 67 miles longer on JLR’s own numbers. The 400 miles rides on the optional 21-inch wheel, every range figure is a Jaguar estimate until the EPA posts a rating, orders are expected to open in early 2027, and Jaguar anticipates the first U.S. deliveries in the second half of the year. Jaguar has published one U.S. price so far, $130,500 for the base car.
