Maybach mistake: Sean P. Diddy Combs buys son $360,000 car, Haiti charity gets $10,000

It’s hard to understand what motivates a father to buy his son a $360,000 Maybach for his 16th birthday. But rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has few equals when it comes to extravagance and bad taste

Combs gave his son Justin Dior a new Maybach during a lavish celebration last weekend. The occasion was filmed by MTV for the reality series My Super Sweet 16. The show is about teenagers’ over-the-top birthday celebrations.

The birthday party also featured performances by the rapper’s friends Fabolous, Lil Kim and Juelz Santana.

In addition to the Maybach, Combs gave his son a check for $10,000 which the boy gave to singer Wyclef Jean’s foundation, Yele Haiti.Maybach mistake: Sean P. Diddy Combs buys son $360,000 car, Haiti charity gets $10,000 1

Combs bought the car for his son because he could. Guests attending the party were also asked to make donations for Haiti charity. Doesn’t that make Combs’ gift to his son seem even more preposterous?

Combs and his son live in the top echelon of society. Giving your son a check for $10,000? fine. And the boy gets the idea to turn the money over to charity. That’s fine, too.

The guess here is that the father and son collaborated or were advised to make the donation. Otherwise, they would have looked more foolish than they already look.

Combs is a successful businessman, but the amount he paid for the Maybach could have been used more wisely. He could have expressed his love for his son without camera lights and celebrity reporters scavenging. He could have even bought his son a car.

But the $360,000? Seems Haiti could have used it and Justin Dior Combs could have waited for another day for a new car.
