Battery ECU software defect (NHTSA 26V393000, filed June 2026). Two integrated circuits in the Denso-supplied battery ECU can overwrite the same memory address, failing an operational check. Repeated failures post an “EV System Malfunction” warning, illuminate multiple malfunction indicator lamps and shut down the electric drive system, with power steering and power-assisted braking still operating. 20,991 vehicles: 11,495 Toyota bZ, 4,757 Subaru Solterra, 4,739 Lexus RZ. Remedy is a free dealer software update; owner letters mailed 2026-08-17.
