It’s not often 50 Ferraris, new models to rare vintage offerings, are available for viewing in one location. But having same collection advance across the Golden Gate Bridge and caravan to Los Angeles is even more rare.
But that’s exactly what the Ferrari Owner’s Group (FOG) has organized for charity.
In conjunction with CarWoo.com., 50 iconic Ferrari models — the new 458 Italia, a F430 Scuderia, 599 GTB Fiorano, 512TR, 328 GTS and a classic 250 GT California Spider — among others, will depart Sept. 22 from Ferrari of San Francisco.
The Ferrari group will progress along Highway 1 and arrive in Los Angeles for a Sept. 24 for a charity auction and banquet.
All proceeds from the rally and its associated events will be donated to San Francisco based charity, Opportunity Impact.
The FOG Road Rally will begin with a pre-rally launch party Sept. 22 at Ferrari of San Francisco beginning at 6 p.m. The rally cars will be on display. Food and food served and live music will entertain an estimated crowd of 500. The donation ticket is $100.
“Seeing 50 Ferraris escorted across the Golden Gate Bridge by the California Highway Patrol and then streaming down Highway 1 all the way to Los Angeles is going to be an incredible spectacle,” said Joe Keon, Founder of the Ferrari Owners Group. “We intend to transform this event into one of the largest rallies in the country. We are excited that we can support a cause as worthy as Operation Impact.”
The rally begins Sept. 23 at 9:30 a.m. following a launch breakfast at Piazza D’Angelo Restaurant in Mill Valley. Drivers and their cars will be available from 7:30 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol will escort the Ferrari caravan across the Golden Gate Bridge, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Ferrari caravan is scheduled to arrive for the night at the Mar Monte Hotel in Santa Barbara between 5-6 p.m.
After making their way into Los Angeles, drivers, guests and friends will gather at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel at 6 p.m. for cocktails, a charity auction, fund raising awards, a banquet and a comedy show.
One “item” being auctioned is a dinner prepared in your home by for up to 10 people by Chef Dominique Chen who has been Michelin starred in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and is an Iron Chef Winner. Tickets for this event are $250 per person and can also be obtained on the FOG Rally website.
Opportunity Impact, founded in 2007, serves children in the lowest income areas of San Francisco.
CarWoo, based in Burlingame, Ca., is self-described as the only online marketplace where buyers remain anonymous and dealers are ensured buyers 80 percent of purchase within two weeks
