It’s likely not what those seeking to be like Elvis Presley have in mind. But buying one of the two 1970 Mercedes-Benz 600s once owned by the iconic performer couldn’t hurt — if you have a spare quarter-million dollars or so.The $15,000 Mercedes-Benz was originally purchased by Presley in 1969, who paid $5,500 in cash and financed the balance, according to an article in Auto123.com. It will be auctioned by Bonham’s, the esteemed global auctioneers based in London and San Francisco, in its year-end sale in December.
The article details that Presley kept the car for two years before giving it to a friend, James Leroy Robertson. The car also had another owner but was auctioned at the Important Motor Cars and Fine Automobilia sale at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, England, last December.
The restored Mercedes has an estimated value of $230-$300,000, and is among only a handful of vehicles Presley registered in his name.
