Exterior Design

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 features a commanding and aggressive exterior design that blends functionality with modern aesthetics. Its bold stance is highlighted by the Mopar® Sport Performance Hood, which adds a muscular and dynamic look to the front profile.

2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4x4

The Granite Crystal Metallic Clear-Coat paint enhances its premium appeal, while the 20-inch polished aluminum wheels provide a striking contrast to the dark exterior.

The truck’s aerodynamic enhancements contribute to improved fuel efficiency and performance, ensuring that its design is not just visually appealing but also practical.

The RAM 2500 comes equipped with LED headlights, fog lamps, and tail lamps, ensuring excellent visibility in all driving conditions, which received plenty of testing during a heavy rain. LED bed lighting further enhances utility, making nighttime cargo handling convenient.

These lighting elements are standard across higher trims, offering a clear advantage over competitors like the Ford F-250, which also features LED lighting but emphasizes high-strength aluminum body construction for weight reduction.

The exterior design is not just about looks, it’s built for utility. Features like the deployable Mopar® bed step and power side running boards make accessing the truck bed and cabin easier, especially during heavy-duty tasks. The speed of which running boards deployed and tucked away felt very natural for getting in and out of the truck.

The dampened tailgate with power release adds convenience for loading and unloading cargo, while telescopic trailer tow mirrors with integrated cameras enhance visibility for towing operations. These thoughtful additions position the RAM as a highly functional choice for worksite use.

2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4x4 tailgate release

The RAM 2500 stands out with its Sport Appearance Package, which includes trim-specific fascias, grilles, and distinctive hard badging. This package ensures that the truck projects an unmistakable presence on the road or job site. The optional spray-in bedliner by Mopar® adds durability to the truck bed, protecting it from wear and tear during heavy use.

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport strikes an excellent balance between rugged capability and modern luxury, making it a standout choice for those seeking both performance and refinement in their heavy-duty truck.

While the Ford F-250 excels in off-road capabilities and the GMC Sierra HD shines in luxury appointments, the RAM’s combination of bold design elements and practical features makes it a well-rounded competitor in this segment.

Interior Cab and Design

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 offers a luxurious and thoughtfully designed cabin that combines premium materials, advanced technology, and practical features. Its interior is tailored to meet the needs of drivers who demand both comfort and functionality, whether for long road trips, daily commutes, or heavy-duty work.

The RAM 2500 Laramie Sport features leather-trimmed bucket seats with 8-way power adjustments for both the driver and front passenger. These seats are heated and ventilated, ensuring comfort in all weather conditions. The leather upholstery is complemented by high-quality stitching and soft-touch materials throughout the cabin.

Rear passengers enjoy 40 inches of legroom, providing ample space for adults or families on long journeys.

The fold-flat load floor storage and second-row in-floor storage bins enhance practicality by offering hidden compartments for tools, gear, or personal items.

A hidden surprise under the center console: measurements and conversions. Photo: Michael Kahn.

Compared to competitors like the Chevrolet Silverado HD, which offers perforated leather seating in higher trims such as the High Country, the RAM’s interior feels more upscale due to its refined design and attention to detail.

While the Silverado emphasizes ergonomic seating with lumbar support, the RAM’s seats provide a balance of firmness and plushness that appeals to a wider range of users.

The centerpiece of the RAM’s technology suite is its Uconnect® 5 infotainment system, featuring a standard 12-inch touchscreen display that can be upgraded to a massive 14.5-inch screen.

This system supports Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and SiriusXM® 360L, ensuring seamless connectivity for navigation, music streaming, and hands-free communication. I found the interface to be intuitive and familiar.

While competitors like the GMC Sierra HD also offer large infotainment screens (up to 13.4 inches), the RAM stands out with its optional dual wireless charging pads, allowing simultaneous charging of multiple devices. The design and functionality of the wireless charging pads ended up being my favorite out of all the wireless charging pads used in vehicles to date and has become my own personal gold standard.

The available 17-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Sound System delivers exceptional audio quality, making it ideal for audiophiles or those who value immersive entertainment during drives.

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport includes dual-zone automatic climate control, allowing both driver and passengers to set their preferred temperatures independently.

Heated steering wheel functionality further enhances comfort during colder months. The heated seats worked exceptionally well and stood out to me in comparison of vehicles across the board. This included the heated seats in the rear.

These features are comparable to those found in the GMC Sierra HD Denali trims but are standard in the RAM at lower trim levels.

The RAM’s interior benefits from an Active Noise Cancellation System, which minimizes external sounds for a quieter ride. This feature is particularly useful during highway driving or towing operations when engine noise can become intrusive.

I didn’t realize this initially and was thoroughly impressed by how quiet driving was on plenty of roads which normally were noisier than average.

Competitors like the GMC Sierra HD Denali also employ sound-dampening materials but lack the same level of active noise cancellation found in the RAM.

Compared to competitors like the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD, the RAM offers a more upscale feel with features such as dual wireless charging pads, active noise cancellation, and superior rear passenger space.

Whether for work or leisure, this truck delivers an exceptional cabin experience that rivals luxury SUVs while maintaining its rugged utility.

Performance & Driving Experience

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 is powered by the next-generation 6.7L Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel Engine, delivering 430 horsepower and an industry-leading 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

This engine is paired with an advanced 8-speed TorqueFlite heavy-duty automatic transmission, ensuring smooth power delivery and precise handling in a variety of driving conditions.

Whether towing heavy loads or cruising on the highway, this powertrain provides exceptional performance, making the RAM 2500 a standout in the heavy-duty truck segment.

The Cummins engine has undergone significant upgrades for 2025, including:

  • Enhanced intake and exhaust valves, enlarged by 2 millimeters to improve airflow and combustion efficiency.
  • Fuel pressure increased to 32,000 psi, allowing for faster injection and improved power output.
  • A redesigned turbocharger featuring a smaller, quicker-spooling turbine for faster transient response during acceleration.
  • Helical gears in the cam drive and fuel-pump drive reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), creating a quieter ride even under heavy loads.

These improvements not only boost power but also enhance reliability and efficiency, ensuring the engine remains durable under demanding conditions.

The RAM’s 8-speed automatic transmission is optimized for both towing and everyday driving.

The RAM 2500 Laramie Sport excels in towing performance with a maximum capacity of 36,610 pounds when properly equipped. This makes it ideal for hauling fifth-wheel trailers, large boats, or industrial equipment.

It features both a low first gear for effortless towing starts and the ability to launch from second gear when the truck is empty, providing smoother acceleration and fewer shifts during normal driving.

This transmission eliminates the need for optional gear ratios, simplifying operation while maintaining versatility across different driving scenarios.

Real-world tests highlight its ability to maintain stable speeds while towing heavy loads uphill or during sudden stops. The integration of advanced towing technologies including Trailer Reverse Guidance for precise maneuvering and a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System to ensure safety during long hauls.

These features enhance confidence for drivers managing substantial payloads.

Drivers have praised the RAM 2500’s smooth ride quality and responsive handling. The truck’s adaptive steering system ensures precise control at high speeds or while navigating tight corners.

Optional Auto-Level Rear Air Suspension improves ride comfort and stability by automatically adjusting to varying payloads. Real-world impressions from owners highlight its quiet cabin experience thanks to noise-reduction measures like helical gears and advanced sound insulation.

When compared to rivals:

The Ford F-250 Super Duty offers similar towing capabilities with its Power Stroke diesel engine but falls slightly behind in torque output (1,050 lb-ft). Its 10-speed automatic transmission provides more gears but lacks the smoothness of RAM’s 8-speed setup.

The GMC Sierra HD emphasizes luxury but cannot match the RAM’s towing capacity (maxing out at ~35,500 lbs) or torque output. Its MultiPro™ Tailgate adds versatility but doesn’t directly impact performance metrics.

Owners have reported noticeable improvements in acceleration and responsiveness compared to previous models. Towing enthusiasts highlight its stable performance even when hauling trailers close to maximum capacity.

Safety Features

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 is equipped with comprehensive advanced safety technologies designed to protect occupants, enhance driver confidence, and ensure peace of mind during every journey. These features combine active and passive safety systems, making the RAM 2500 one of the safest heavy-duty trucks in its class.

Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus

This system uses sensors to detect potential frontal collisions and provides both visual and audible alerts to the driver. If the driver fails to respond in time, the system can automatically apply the brakes to mitigate or prevent a collision—even when towing heavy loads.

This feature is especially critical for highway driving, where reaction times can be limited.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop

Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically adjusting the truck’s speed.

It can bring the vehicle to a complete stop in traffic and resume acceleration when conditions permit, even with a trailer attached. This system reduces driver fatigue during long hauls or stop-and-go traffic.

Blind-Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection

This system extends its monitoring capabilities to account for trailer length, ensuring safer lane changes and merges.

It alerts drivers to vehicles in their blind spots or alongside the trailer, significantly reducing the risk of accidents when towing.

ParkSense® Front and Rear Park Assist

Ultrasonic sensors integrated into the front and rear bumpers detect nearby obstacles while parking. The system provides visual and audible warnings to help drivers maneuver safely in tight spaces, minimizing the risk of collisions in crowded environments.

Drowsy Driver Detection (Optional)

This optional feature monitors driver behavior through steering inputs and other parameters. If signs of fatigue are detected, it issues alerts to encourage the driver to take a break.

This system is particularly beneficial during long-distance trips or late-night drives.

Traffic Sign Recognition (Optional)

Using forward-facing cameras, this system identifies road signs such as speed limits and stop signs, displaying them on the digital instrument cluster. It helps drivers stay informed and comply with traffic regulations.

Active Lane Management (Optional)

This feature combines LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist to help prevent unintentional lane drifts. If the truck begins to veer out of its lane without signaling, it provides visual alerts and gentle steering inputs to guide the vehicle back into position.

ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera

Standard on all trims, this camera provides a clear view of what’s behind the truck on the infotainment screen, making reversing safer and easier—especially when hitching a trailer.

Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System

This system monitors tire pressure on both the truck and trailer, alerting drivers if any tires fall below optimal levels. Proper tire maintenance is critical for safe towing operations.

Emergency Vehicle Alert System

This innovative feature notifies drivers of approaching emergency vehicles, giving them time to react appropriately by pulling over or adjusting their speed.

The 2025 RAM 2500 has earned an overall five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It scored five stars in frontal and side crash tests and four stars in rollover tests, demonstrating its robust structural integrity and effective safety systems.

The truck’s high-strength steel frame enhances occupant protection by absorbing impact forces during collisions.

Its advanced driver-assistance systems not only enhance protection but also make towing, parking, and highway driving safer and more convenient.

Technology & Features

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 sets a gold standard for in-cabin technology, offering a suite of advanced features designed to enhance convenience, connectivity, and entertainment.

At the heart of the RAM’s technology suite is the Uconnect® 5 infotainment system, which is available with either a 12-inch standard touchscreen or an optional 14.5-inch largest-in-class touchscreen display. Key highlights include:

Despite its size and power, the RAM 2500 achieves a respectable fuel economy of approximately 19 MPG on the highway, making it one of the more efficient options in the heavy-duty truck segment. This efficiency is attributed to the aerodynamic design and advanced engineering of its Cummins Turbo Diesel engine.

In comparison, The Ford F-250 Super Duty equipped with a Power Stroke diesel engine averages slightly lower highway fuel economy at around 18 MPG.

The GMC Sierra HD also offers similar efficiency but lacks some of the aerodynamic enhancements found in the RAM.

Practicality

The 2025 RAM 2500 Laramie Sport Crew Cab 4×4 is designed to meet the demands of drivers who require versatility and utility in a heavy-duty truck.

With its spacious cabin, innovative storage solutions, and durable construction, this truck excels in practicality, whether for worksite tasks, hauling cargo, or embarking on long road trips.

The RAM 2500 offers a highly functional interior with fold-flat load floor storage that allows drivers to maximize cargo space inside the cabin. The rear seats can be lifted to reveal a flat load floor, ideal for transporting large or awkwardly shaped items that need to be kept secure.

Second-row in-floor storage bins are available, providing hidden compartments for tools, gear, or personal belongings. These bins feature removable liners for easy cleaning and are spacious enough to accommodate items like a 4-inch drop hitch.

For smaller items, the center console rear cubby bin offers convenient storage for passengers, while the reconfigurable center console provides enough room for a 15-inch laptop or hanging file folders.

The inclusion of Type-C USB charging ports ensures that devices remain powered during long trips.

Compared to competitors like the Ford F-250 and GMC Sierra HD, The RAM’s fold-flat load floor and in-floor storage bins are class-exclusive, offering more versatility than Ford’s under-seat storage or GMC’s standard rear seat configurations.

‘While the GMC Sierra HD emphasizes luxury in its cabin design, the RAM balances luxury with practicality by integrating thoughtful storage solutions.

The RAM 2500’s bed is equipped with several features that enhance its usability.

The Mopar® spray-in bedliner provides durability and protection against wear and tear from heavy loads.

LED bed lighting ensures visibility during nighttime loading or unloading.

The optional deployable bed step by Mopar® makes accessing the truck bed easier, especially when carrying heavy cargo.

Additionally, the available RamBox® Cargo Management System transforms the truck bed into a versatile workspace. This system includes two lockable, drainable storage bins with LED lighting, perfect for storing tools or wet gear. These bins are integrated into the bed sides without compromising cargo space.

Price & Value
