The third installment in the popular series will have a more serious theme.

McQueen is suddenly dispatched from racing after a crash. And to return to to the sport, he needs the assistance of a young race technician, Cruz Ramirez. But she has her own ideas and plans to win.

And there’s another twist: Guidance from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet as well as a few other figurative and literal tumultuous racetrack corners to negotiate.

The heavy tone from the teaser has garnered plenty of attention. After the crash, the words heard: “From this moment, everything will change.”

In addition to Wilson, the list of character voiceover actors is impressive: Larry the Cable Guy (Mater), Bonnie Hunt (Sally Carrera) and Cheech Marin (Ramone).

The film is produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a sequel to Cars (2006) and Cars 2 (2011). It’s directed by Brian Fee, a storyboard animator on the first two films.
