23V523000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Air vehicles. Software versions 2.0.64 and older may not respond properly to an inverter power module failure, which can result in a loss of drive power without warning.

Consequence: A loss of drive power without warning increases the risk of a crash.

24V497000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY THERMAL:MANAGEMENT:SOFTWARE

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Air vehicles. When a hardware communication fault is detected, the High Voltage Interlock (HVIL) software could disconnect the high voltage contactors while the vehicle is in motion, causing a loss of drive power.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

24V836000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Air Pure rear wheel drive vehicles. The rear subframe wiring harness may be too short, straining the electrical connection and causing power loss to the rear drive unit (RDU).

Consequence: A loss of power to the rear drive unit can result in a complete loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

25V669000 POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Air vehicles equipped with Pure Rear-Wheel Drive. Improperly secured bolts may allow the half-shaft to disconnect from the drive unit.

Consequence: A disconnected half shaft can result in a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Electric Propulsion
  • [2022] 2022 Lucid Air suffered a total loss of power without any warning at approximately 10 PM on July 29, 2023, while driving 65+ mph on the Jersey Turnpike. The car’s dashboard suddenly flashed “System Failure” and immediately started to decelerate. I had approximately 30 seconds to weave across 2 lanes of high speed traffic as the car steadily lost speed and fortunately there was a shoulder just wi
  • [2022] Q: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: Car lost all ability to move forward except for a very weak crawl of 1 or 2 miles per hour. The car is with the manufacturer at this point. Q: How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: Car stopped in the middle of traffic with no warning. I had to slowly move the car to the
  • [2023] On Saturday [XXX], in Chino Hills, CA (ZIP Code 91709), my 2023 Lucid Air Touring experienced a sudden unintended acceleration event. Shortly after releasing the accelerator pedal to obtain a parking pass, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated at a high speed, resulting in a collision with the pavement and a post on the premises. This incident bears similarities to the all-weather mat recall; howe
High-Voltage Battery
  • [2022] The contact owns a 2022 Lucid Air. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed in inclement weather, there was a lightning strike in close proximity, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. The vehicle inadvertently rebooted and the contact was able to park the vehicle next to a residential garage; however, after turning off the vehicle, the vehicle was unable to be restarted.
  • [2022] My vehicle was in the garage and the drive train failed. No other details were provided to me by the manufacturer. There have been at least four other reports, in which vehicles were on the road when this occurred and the vehicles shutdown with little to no time to find a safe spot to pull over. This seems to be an issue with either the main EV battery or the 12V accessory battery.
Charging System
  • [2023] The contact owns a 2023 Lucid Air. The contact stated that he had purchased and picked up the vehicle from the Service Center. The contact stated that the vehicle had a 425-mile range, and the mile range at pick-up was 408. The contact stated that while driving 64 MPH, the heater became inoperable. Additionally, the vehicle started to lose charging range. The message "Battery Critically Low Vehicl

Source: classified from NHTSA complaint and recall data. "Battery-related" includes high-voltage propulsion battery, charging system, hybrid drivetrain, electric propulsion, regenerative braking, 12V auxiliary battery, and thermal-event complaints. Other complaints (suspension, steering, brakes, infotainment) appear in the engine and vehicle-level sections. Rates are absolute counts, not normalized per-VIN — high-volume models naturally produce more raw complaints than low-volume ones. Self-reported death and injury counts are capped per complaint to limit form abuse.

Known issues

High
2022-2023 Lucid Air traction-battery recall (NHTSA 24V-497) addressed a hardware-communication failure that could cause loss of drive power. Resolved via OTA.
Medium
2022-2023 Air propulsion-fuse recall (NHTSA 23V-110) covered an electrically activated contactor that could open unexpectedly. Free dealer repair.
Low
924V architecture enables peak DC fast charging above 300 kW on a 350 kW charger. Charge curve drops steeply above 70% SOC — normal for ultra-high-energy NCMA.
Owner-fleet data
Low
Lucid service network is small. Out-of-warranty pack work concentrates at Lucid Service Centers; mobile service handles most other items.
Owner-fleet data

How this pack ages (industry context)

Industry fleet aggregates: 2.3% average annual capacity loss across 22,700 EVs / 21 models (Geotab, 2026), and 95% range retention at 5 years on average across 30,000+ vehicles (Recurrent, 2026).

OEM warranty floor on this pack: 8 yr / 100k mi to 70% capacity.

Public per-pack degradation curves are not available for most models. Individual results vary materially with climate, charging behavior, and DC fast-charge frequency.
