James Raia

The Honda CR-V, the country's best-selling Sport Utility Vehicle and redesigned for 2012, is debuting at the Los Angeles Auto Show and has a more refined appearance and is reportedly quieter than previous editions.

The new CR-V features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower, 163 pound feet of torque and a five-speed automatic transmission.

Gas mileage estimates are 23 mpg (city), 31 mgg (highway) and 26 mpg (combined) for the front-wheel driven model while the all-wheel model gets one less mpg less in all three ratings.

The CR-V also comes standard with Honda’s Bluetooth HandsFreeLink interface, previously an option. A full-color infotainment display with multi-angle rearview cameras also comes standard.

The new Honda CR-V also features an SMS text messaging function that reads received texts over the audio system from compatible Bluetooth phones.

Pricing hasn't been announced, but the new Honda CR-V will be available in dealerships in December.
