2014 Toyota Corolla: New look, better gas mileage

Since it’s the best-selling car in history, look for continued keen marketing when  2014 Toyota Corolla is soon completely unveiled. In the meantime, the carmaker is steadily leaking details of the Corolla. And it takes the entry level vehicle at least as seriously as the debut of any of its cars — the Camry to the Prius to the Tacoma pick-up.

The next generation of the Corolla, the 12th since the car’s debut in 1966, has slowly and steadily been leaked onto the Internet in stages. The front end was recently teased with a few images. And now images of the rear end have also surfaced.

2014 Toyota Corolla Has Aggressive Styling

According to various media reports, the 2014 Toyota Corolla will feature 17-inch wheels, 17-inch wheels, LED headlights. And, of course, the Toyota branded infotainment system.

The Corolla will be  powered by a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine. It will featured Valvematic continuously variable valve timing and lift system. The current Corolla also uses a 1.8-liter four cylinder, with only has variable valve timing.

A report on AutoGuide.com details Toyota has confirmed the new Corolla will have an EPA highway mileage of more than 40 mpg.

The complete Corolla exterior and interior design is expected to be revealed June 6 with dealer availability near the end of 2013.

The Corolla became the best selling nameplate in the world in 1997 when it surpassed the Volkswagen Beetle. Since the end of 2012, more than 39 million Toyota Corollas have been sold with rear-wheel and front-wheel drive.
