The Hummer brand may soon gone. But it will either go down or stay around with a bang. To entice new sales for the downtrodden brand, the nation’s biggest dealer of the unique former military vehicle is offering a unique $2,000 perk — a new shotgun.
Jim Lynch Hummer in Chesterfield, Illinois, is the dealer offering a free Browning Citori White Lightning Shotgun for every new Hummer sold.
After recently attaining a license from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, to sell weapons and ammunition in the dealership, Lynch devised the perk for new Hummer buyers.
“There is now a real reason to believe that the current inventory on hand at dealers may be the last of the new Hummers, we wanted to send them off with something memorable,” said Lynch. “Browning and Hummer are prestigious brands and American Icons – bringing them together is a natural fit.” Lynch told various media outlets’ reporters.
Last week, General Motors announced it will keep Hummer until May 1. If the carmaker doesn’t reach an agreement with a partner for Hummer’s takeover by then, the brand will be “killed.”
The new Browning shotgun is worth $2,000.
“Hummer inventory got so low we had to add another product to make up for lost sales.” said Lynch, who has been a dealer since 1994. “The guns have been a huge hit with our Hummer customers and now we are taking the ‘Guns and Hummers’ concept one step further. “My hope is that someone will come in and rescue the brand. The right buyer with the right vision could do very well. It will be a real shame if the brand doesn’t survive.”
